Let's start by saying that even if has been only a few months that I've been strolling around SL, working as a DJ in many clubs (rock, 80's, mixing live disco stuff, taking requests and whatsoever), I started about 2 months ago singing.
Here, I mean.
I have been singing in RL since 1994. I quit only for "techincal matters" (bass player left and the band stopped to perform).
So far during my live performances, there's NOTHING like seeing (in chat of course) ppl enjoying what you're doing.

Born and raised in Northern Iceland, Hölli Vals lived an idyllic childhood surrounded by contrastful nature.

Michael Davis(Drakhar1 Aeon) is the soul maker of this band. He started playing drums in the early 90's. Jazz is Michaels focus, but he is all so a very accomplished player in Rock, classic Rock, Funk and R@B, Michael additionally writes guitar and bass and piano and vocals, and Drums for The Prisoners of Justice.

His message is one of hope and peace in the world and his music is as passionate as his concerns. Often performing Bob Marley songs and rastafarian inspired originals, yet he is still very versitile and enjoys playing Jazz Standards and Rock Favorites. He lives in Washington DC USA.

euterpe queller*july 15th @2:30 pm slt

Combining Jazz, R&B, Pop, Rock and Soul, Shelly Phelps is the epitome of versatility. Phelps honors old school influences and classic singer-songwriters with passionate performances of her eclectic brand of original music. Based out of Oklahoma City, OK, USA, she is recognized for her soulful vocals that range from visceral to velvety. Phelps' intuitive and emotionally connecting lyrics seek self-enlightenment, explore the intricacies of relationships, take a passionate stand on social issues, and articulate a preference for authentic-living.

Phelps, a notable element of the Oklahoma Music Scene, was born and raised in the tiny rural community of Byars, Oklahoma and has been singing on stage since the tender age of six. She was fed a steady diet of traditional country and southern gospel and learned to sing harmonies with her seven brothers and sisters. She was influenced by the music of her older siblings, ranging from the Rolling Stones and The Beatles to singer/songwriters like Carole King and James Taylor. But it was when she discovered Jazz and Motown that she began to absorb the sounds of artists like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald and Motown greats like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Martha and The Vandellas. In her early career, Phelps performed in several bands ranging from country to rock to R&B and frequently fronted the Latin Jazz band, Salsa Nueva. In 1997, she formed the R&B/Rock band “Shelly Phelps and The Rhythm Junkies”, an Oklahoma City favorite for more than six years.

In 2003, Phelps teamed up with Rhythm Junkies guitarist, Rob Vollmar along with bassist, Warren Roach and drummer, Erol Coulter to form The Shelly Phelps Band, focusing on original rock music with a soulful and jazzy edge. In 2004 the band released a collection of versatile original songs with their album, “Girl on the Wire” to enthusiastic reviews. Preston Jones of the Oklahoma Gazette wrote, “Working with the rock-solid rhythm section, Phelps’s distinctive smoky vocals wrap themselves around these barroom vignettes like so much satin.” The band paid tribute to the music that shaped their musicianship, resulting in a hybrid of their artistic influences. “Girl on the Wire” has it all as far as song styles, from a touch of funk to country, from samba to rock solid R&B. And Phelps’ smoky vocals handle each one, aided by her strong and steady three-piece backup. But something special happens when she goes to R&B, the genre that she absolutely owns.” writes Kevan Breitinger of Indie-Music.com.

Acknowledging their accomplishments and successful musical collaboration, The Shelly Phelps Band disbanded in 2008. Phelps is currently recording a new collection of edgy jazz pop under the working title, “A Distant Notion”. The songs will encompass the inspiration, expression, censorship, and legacy of art and artists. “As with all of my songs, there is also an underlying theme of personal enlightenment, love, life, loss and social issues. Phelps adds, “I’m exploring the more jazzy side of my voice and stretching my songwriting ability.” Phelps expects to release “A Distant Notion” (working title) in the fall of 2008.

Phelps founded The Oklahoma Songwriters Circle in 2004 and in addition to her musical talents, she is also a graphic designer.

sunday july 12th @7:00pm slt-cylindrian rutabaga

Known as a pioneer of virtual music, Cylindrian’s performances carry the listener on a journey guided by lyric and melody. Though, she likes to perform various cover songs that have inspired and moved her, she prefers to perform her own original material.
The woman behind the avatar, Grace Buford began her musical adventure at the tender age of 4 years old while listening to her older brother practice piano. That was the spark that ignited her desire to make music. Passion, perseverance, and determination have always been present in her music from that early age. Her desire to hone her craft continues even today as she attempts to impart some of that same ethic on her music students.

“Southern pine forests, winding rivers, and muddy bare feet are luxuries to Atlanta, GA. native Grace Buford.

Life's experiences, be they good or bad, are the fuel and passion that underpin Grace's unique style of songwriting and it shows. Her music engages the heart and mind of her audience, there is feeling and the feeling is shared. From a rhythmic acoustic song about facing negative thoughts in a battle for the mind to a flowing, ethereal keyboard that exposes the vulnerability of facing change, Grace's music and live performances are an emotional ride that will leave you spellbound and wanting more.

As with those shining lights of previous generations of folk/acoustic rock acts, Grace's influences are broad, she is open-minded, curious and not a believer in musical boundaries defined by genres Grace creates what she feels.

Of course to truly experience Grace the best way is to catch her live show, a performer that holds nothing back in terms of energy and is happiest when sharing. There's no pretense or falsehoods, no trickery or gimmicks, be it an intimate venue or a hall you are guaranteed the bare-footed energetic dynamo that is Grace Buford, a voyage of laughter, of tears and every emotion in between is shared openly with her audience and it will leave you wanting for more."

Cylindrian aims to use her skills at social networking, marketing, and music to bring the real world to the virtual and the virtual to the real world in a beautiful fusion of art, music, and technology; in her mind it reflects the proper use of Second Life(tm).

sunday july 12th @1:00pm slt-swina allen

Swina is a guitarist and a vocalist who performs original music in SL, created solely by him in his RL home studio. He loves playing blues, jazz, funky and fusion and counts BB King, Eric Clapton, Robben Ford and Santana among his favorite musicians.

Who is the man behind the avatar?
Swina is an IT manager whose life has always gone with the music.
When he was 14 he bought his first Eko guitar and he started playing and writing his own music. He loves also playing keyboard and piano:he has an awesome 1920 's Hofman-Khune piano on whose ivory keyboard he took his first jazz piano lessons...but the guitar was always on his way. When electronic music was accessible to his pocket he bought his first Roland hardware sequencer and a Roland synth and arranger. Soon after he got a Yamaha like strato electric guitar with a 100 W Montarbo valve ampli. What a deal !

One year ago he discovered the virtual stages in Second Life, where he has packed all the inworld venues where he performs. His love of the jazz/blues genre comes through in his melodic verses and smooth rhythms.

He only performs original tunes Sbut sometimes he sings in his own way some greatest tunes:Springsteen's "Devils and Dust" and Sergio Endrigo's "Io che ho amo solo te" among his favourites.

Most of the original songs are licensed under Creative Commons License and are free to download (some right reserved).

Swina also believes that music contamination is the most interesting thing for a musician: a way to meet musicians all over the world, to develop a new sound and to feel new emotions.
He is also used to play guitar in jamming sessions with SL artists like UKD Project (live), Ezcape Hax (using ninjam), Ridha Cooljoke (live). He has also recorded guitar and piano tracks for Jax Streeter, Ezcape Hax and UKD Project songs.

Anek has been playing the California beach and mainland curcuit as well as a major portion of internet guitar oriented chatrooms for some 30 years now. Heavily influenced by Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen and other guitar greats, Anek brings his electric guitar to stage for the experience. Says Anek "I like to provide the listener with the option of imagined flight by providing a melodic landscape for long distance universal travel, that makes for a nice escape from any reality." Currently Anek is working on a presentation design to cover a wider listening group, it will feature acoustic work, as wella s vocals along with his normal flame embracing visrtuoso style, he is also working on bringing several tour concepts to a reality within SL for all to see and hear. You too can be a part of the bliss set forth by the almost creepy tremolo work, and soaring notes that reach deep into the soul and help you to search for that place you would most like to be at the given moment.

Picker Apogee, instrumental guitarist extraordinaire, is now a very popular attraction to Second Life and it's easy to see why. Seamlessly blending folk, pop, rock and ragtime, he breathes new life into familiar songs through stunning musicianship and clever arrangements. You can hear the songs again for the very first time!

Picker is a 48 year old guitarist who's been playing since age 18. Prior to guitar, he had classical training in violin. He was primarily playing in an electric classic/hard rock lead guitar role until his late 30's. At that time, Picker discovered country blues, ragtime, and fingerstyle guitar and has been hooked ever since. Rarely playing with a pick, he prefers the use of thumb and bare fingers to express himself musically.
